π + π − π − π o , D ( ∗ ) ωπ − and the Observation of a Wide 1 − ωπ − Enhancement at 1418 MeV

We report on the observation of B → D∗π+π−π−πo decays. The branching ratios for D∗+ and D are (1.72±0.14±0.24)% and (1.80±0.24±0.25)%, respectively. Each final state has a Dωπ component, with branching ratios (0.29±0.03±0.04)% and (0.45±0.10±0.07)% for the D∗+ and D modes, respectively. We also observe B → Dωπ decays. The branching ratios for D+ and D are (0.28±0.05±0.03)% and (0.41±0.07±0.04)%, respectively. The ωπ appears to come from the decay of a wide 1 resonance. A fit to a Breit-Wigner shape gives a mass of 1418±26±19 MeV and width of 388±44±32 MeV. We identify this object as the ρ(1450) or ρ. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Theoretical study of anomalous decay mode τ → ωπππν is presented. Theoretical value of the branching ratio of τ − → ωπ − π 0 π 0 ν agrees well with data. The branching ratio of τ − → ωπ + π − π − ν τ is predicted. It is found that the vertices of a 1 ρπ and ωρπ play dominant role in these two decay modes. CVC is satisfied and there is no adjustable parameter.

The cross section of the process e+e− → ωπ0 → π0π0γ has been measured in the c.m. energy range 920–1380 MeV with the CMD-2 detector. Its energy dependence is well described by the interference of the ρ(770) and ρ(1450) mesons decaying to ωπ0. Upper limits for the cross sections of the direct processes e+e− → π0π0γ, ηπ0γ have been set.

Using a sample of 58 million J/ψ events recorded in the BESII detector, the decay J/ψ → ωπ+π− is studied. There are conspicuous ωf2(1270) and b1(1235)π signals. At low ππ mass, a large broad peak due to the σ is observed, and its pole position is determined to be (541 ± 39) i (252 ± 42) MeV from the mean of six analyses.
